Wow i have a treat for you today on this ickle wedding blog, a seriously scrumptious wedding, described by the groom as “country chintz” which i totally love!
This Autumnal wedding tickles all of my taste buds, amazing photography, a gorgeous dress, beautiful diy touches and fabulous couple! Hayley is oh so chic and stylish, i am swooning over her wedding day look, and the reception details are to die for. I also adore the fact it was an intimate celebration in a pub, the perfect British setting for any couple. L.O.V.E.
Huge huge thanks to the amazing Cheshire wedding photographer Victoria Phipps Photography for sharing her work with us today, here is what she had to say about the day;
“Andrew and Hayley were married in Barrow upon Soar on October 30th, which turned out to be a bright, colourful autumn day. After our rainy engagement session earlier in the year, I was so pleased to draw my curtains that morning and see blue sky! The wedding was quite simply a joy to photograph.”
The Proposal….
In bed on Christmas morning, the ring was stuffed into a stocking and hung on our mantlepiece with an added satsuma. I kind of knew that the ring was in there the night before and had to try and get to sleep knowing that it was only a couple of feet away!
Beautiful bridesmaids…..
My friends from school; Hannah and Sarah.
The Vision for the day….
As I used to waitress at a stately home wedding venue I wanted to stay clear of anything too similar! I wanted the day to be relaxed and not too formal, and to keep it low key and intimate. Andrew says that I went for a “country chintz” theme.
The Planning process….
I wanted to make as much as I could myself. I started with the bunting which took me weeks to complete, bit by bit after work (20m in total!), after that I made invitations, place settings, menus, the list goes on. I’m so pleased that I did it as it made the day feel really special.
To be honest the planning was not stressful, I just tried to stay relaxed about it all.
The church we chose was the church I used to attend with school and the parish church of the village I grew up in. Getting married in a church was important to us and particularly me as I have so many memories from childhood.
The Venue….
Our reception was held in a pub call the The Crown Inn, we know the place well as it has a wonderful restaurant. When we got engaged I knew that I wanted it as our venue as it is a perfect size for a small wedding, we just didn’t know if they could do it. Luckily they said yes and our wedding was their first! The pub is very quaint but has a lovely dining room with glass doors along one side, it looked beautiful all lit up in the evening.
The Dress + Accessories…..
I had the dress made by a local dressmaker. I bought a large amount of wedding magazines at the beginning of the year, cut out bits of dresses that I liked and Amanda sketched out some ideas. Again, I didn’t want anything too formal and I wanted to be comfortable in the dress, on the day it swished around in the breeze beautifully. I added an ostrich feather bolero and a pair of green vintage style shoes.
Memorable moments…
Our favourite moments are Andrew laughing at me getting dizzy twirling around while Vicki was taking photos of the dress swishing, dancing (as above) and the girls all running away when I threw my bouquet at the end of the night!
Advice for other couples…
Don’t feel that you need over a year to plan it, we did it in 9 months, make things yourself, and make sure you book Phippsy!
The Flowers…
I wanted lots of foliage and autumn colours. We chose freesia and orange and yellow roses.
We hired a band called The Hot Jazz Biscuits from Shropshire. They do a bit of jazz and motown and even got the dads dancing! One of my favourite memories of the day is everyone dancing on the very small dancefloor to Blame it on the Boogie!
The Honeymoon….
We went to Cape Town for two weeks. We did a bit of travelling around, saw the sights, ate very well and sampled plenty of wine at the many vinyeards!
Thanks so much to Hayley and Andrew for sharing their day with {www}.
Victoria has had this fabulous engagement session featured on {www} also, from which two of my gorgeous readers snapped her up for their wedding photography!! Hands up who ;-) hehe!! Just adorable. I love that you feature cute weddings like this- that are about more than just bling, but really express the taste of the couple.
When I got married I had the exact same thoughts as Hayley, I used to work in a big wedding venue and wanted something relaxed and fun for the guests (and as you know I went for a pub too!).
