Good morning {www}ers :-) I hope you are feeling refreshed after the weekend. I have a real treat of a wedding today, so scrummy i have split it into two parts ~ i do love to spoil you don’t i? Hehe!! This wedding pulls at my heart strings, full of beautiful details all made by the gorgeous bride, including the most incredible bouquet i ever saw.
Kelly and Ryan were married at Oldwalls Leisure; a 5 star self catering venue located in Oldwalls in the Gower near Swansea, this Autumn. The couple are huge Beatles fan’s and wanted to reflect that in their day, which i think they pulled off fabulously. I just love Kelly’s bridal look, she accessorizes her dress fabulously, rockin those Vivienne Westwood Lady Dragons, a gorgeous statement necklace and a birdcage veil, she is one of the most stylish bride’s ever!! Ryan looks totally amazing in his 60’s style suit to make them one super stylish couple.
The incredible photography is by the amazing South Wales wedding photographer Aga from photoTOM, thanks so much to Aga for sharing her beautiful images with {www} today.… I shall leave you in Kelly’s capable hands…
The Proposal.….
Ryan proposed on Christmas day 2007. He woke me up at 7.30am (I was not a happy person) and wouldn’t leave me alone until I agreed to get up! We went downstairs where he pulled this massive box from under the tree and told me to open it… while I was starting to rip the paper off he turned on the camera and started filming me! I should’ve known something was about to happen… I pulled some of the paper off and saw the word KARCHER… he asked me what I thought it was and I said “ well it better not be a Karcher pressure washer!” I ripped all the paper off and opened the box and a star shaped helium balloon floated up and on the string was a little key ring and a tag which read “Try this ring on for size, now try and find the real one”. Inside this box was about 20 shredded newspapers! So I started rummaging through the paper and came across a bottle of champagne… I started to cry! Eventually I found a little red ring box and he asked me to be his wife!
The Vision for the day….
Ryan and I are both huge Beatles fans and we wanted to reflect this in many details of the day, namely the music of course. I’ve always been into all things vintage and retro since I was growing up so I wanted to have a vintage/retro theme and feel to the day which tied in with our love for the Beatles nicely! With it being an autumn wedding I didn’t want to have the typical autumnal browns, reds and oranges (I try to stay away from the norm where possible) so I chose purple and lime, they compliment each other perfectly and really stand out.
The Planning process….
It took me 12 months to plan everything and I had a great time doing it! I like to make things in my spare time from cards to jewellery so I wanted to make pretty much everything I could for the wedding. Here is a list of everything I made:
The invitations, order of service, centrepieces, 100 paper roses for the centrepieces, Tissue paper pom-poms to hang from the marquee ceiling, CD favours featuring Beatles music, Bouquets and buttonholes, aisle runner, sweet buffet table, decorations for the cake, ‘just married’ parasol, table plan…
The suit…
Ryan wanted to capture the Beatles 60’s style with the groomsmen outfits so they wore grey slim fit suits from Marks and Spencer and black skinny ties. The Groomsmen’s buttonholes were Beatles album covers.
The Flowers…
The bouquets and corsages and centrepiece flowers were handmade by me. The bouquets and corsages are purple peonies with lime green berries and are made from tiny glass seed beads and wire. And the centrepiece flowers are paper roses with the lyrics to ‘All you need is love’ printed on each one.
The dress….
I chose a fishtail style ivory dress by Benjamin Roberts with beaded embellishments on the bodice. I bought my dress from a small bridal shop near my home called Castle Cloaks. To fit in with my vintage theme I wore a Birdcage Veil instead of the traditional long veil and I wore a huge ivory and blush pink rose in my hair.
Beautiful bridesmaids…..
I had one beautiful bridesmaid, Sarah, and one gorgeous bridesman, Anthony, both very dear friends of mine. Sarah wore a gorgeous purple silk dress from Coast and Anthony wore the same suit as the groomsmen and I made him a special buttonhole to match the bouquets.
The Venue…
We booked the first place we saw because it was everything I’d imagined I wanted. Oldwalls Leisure is a 5 star self catering venue located in Oldwalls in the Gower near Swansea. It has acres of outside space with lakes and trees. I fell in love with it as soon as I saw it and the ideas started to flow…
The Ceremony Readings and Music….
All the music up to the evening entertainment was by the Beatles (of course) Ryan even recorded himself playing ‘Here, there and everywhere’ by the Beatles for me to walk down the aisle to!
Ryan’s sister, Nicola, read ‘He never leaves the toilet seat up’ by Pam Ayres. It’s really funny but quite sweet as well.
Ryan’s cousin, Melanie, read ‘What does marriage mean in today’s world?’ by Teresa Ling
Be sure to pop by for the reception this afternoon :-)

Hi
Such an amazing wedding! Very beautiful details, if you don't mind me asking where did you get the ‘just married’ parasol?
All the best
Tim
Kelly Hill says:
@Tim Bishop... Thank you very much! The parasol came from a site on the internet and I painted the 'just married' on myself! If you're interested in having one email me and I can make you one... kelly-hill@live.co.uk

Stunning wedding Kelly, just wondering, where did you get the large pom poms from - i love them!!
Kelly Hill says:
I made the pom poms too! :) there are lots of tutorials on the web if you want to make your own or you can get them from www.etsy.com - lots off very talented people on there
J9 says:
Thanks! Another quick question - sorry to be a pain!! :-) how long before the wedding did you make them up? Im getting married in Oldwalls too and a bit worried about making them up too far in advance.
Kelly Hill says:
I made them about 6 months in advance but didn't open them out until the morning of the wedding (we had plenty of time on the day because we didn't get married til 4 pm) I stored them in a cardboard box folded in half. Keep them out of direct sunlight or the paper will fade and keep them somewhere that doesn't get any moisture as the paper will disintergrate. Anymore questions feel free to ask, I'm happy to help :)
Kirsty says:
A wedding planner in the making i think......you have such a talent! Congratulations it all looks amazing x
