This beautiful and fresh wedding is sure to give you that warm fuzzy feeling inside. It’s lovely to see a bride and groom that bring together a family when they get married and that have children together. I think it makes the day that little bit more special, espcially for the children. The beautiful bride Clare looks stunning in her relaxed Grecian wedding dress and vintage style wedding look. I love the flowers placed in her and the bridesmaid’s hair. Moxhull Hall provides the perfect backdrop to the garden themed wedding, relaxed and beautiful. Thank you so much to the lovely Jo Hastings for sharing her amazing images and to the bride Clare for sharing her report of her big day…take it away Clare :-)
The Proposal….
Mark and I have been together for 5 years. We had two gorgeous girls between us Megan 13 and Maisie 8. I was pregnant with our third and it was my birthday. Mark went shopping with my mum and together the went to a local jeweller and choose my diamond (without me knowing of course) and on my birthday he popped the question much to my surprise hidden in a shoe box along with my presents…there it was. Wow!
The Vision for the day….
We knew we wanted to wait until our baby (Lenny now 1) was born… We also knew we wanted all our close friends and their children…all of which live up and down the country to be with us on our special day…and we also knew we wanted to get married outside. A country garden…hippy style wedding is what we wanted. We found a venue with a secret garden full of the charm and delight that made us fall in love with it!
The Planning process….
This was easy once we booked Moxhull Hall I knew I wanted a theme…..we both love music so we went on to look at and source our band….a scar band called Madegascar. We found our local photographer Jo Hastings and discussed with her what we wanted. A cool laid back day…all about us our friends and our children. In the middle of this my mum passed away but I had long conversations with her leading up to her death of what everything was going to be like….the flowers…my dress…my bridesmaids…we even played her our first dance song ‘grow old with me’ by Glen Campbell. She could see it. So I was almost like it all had to happen like that.
I had conversations with florists to see if they were on my wavelength as I wanted fresh flowers in my hair….I wanted to get it right…i seen some terrible ones before i found Justine and Cheryl. They were so passionate about my wedding when I described it. They completely got my vibe and it was a pleasure to work with them.
The flowers…..
The flowers i wanted ‘hand picked’ type roses and lots of green…getting our hair right was trial and error…i knew the headbands had to be made on the day…they were beautiful.
The suit…..
Marks suit we wanted to keep formal and simple. Thats his style….why change him? We just dressed it with a peach avalanch rose that graduated into green…to match my bridesmaids (our daughters)
The dress….
The dress. Well I loved the Jenny Packham dress Denise Van outen wore and i knew i wanted something like that. But i also wanted to design it myself (this is my only chance in life eh) so i took pictures of that dress… and with the idea of my venue/theme…my dress was designed…very floaty one shouldered ‘hippy’ style dress….that all i could imagine was walking into the secret garden with everyone looking at me and my dress flowwing out behind….It took a lot of hard and stubborn baby weight to shift…but I got there..the dress was what i dreamed about (and did for 9 months prior to the day)!
The cake…
The cake we kept simple my mother in law made it. With two layers fruit…one chocolate and a final kitchen cake to be cut up and passed around. We also opted for the willow figurine on top ‘the promise’ so we could keep it in our house on our fireplace forever!
Beautiful bridesmaids…..
Again I wanted to their dresses to be similar to mine…so with my designer we kept to the theme but running a couple of colours through their dress. Peach and green…and we kept the dress calf length as I had brought them some roman sandals to show off their feet!
Ups and Down’s on the day…
There wasnt any! i enjoyed every second…cried..laughed got VERY drunk on champers…danced…sang and hung out with the most favourite people in our lives. It was perfect…the only down is it went too fast and there is so much i cant remember (may be the champagne) but we have conversations all the time..do you remeber when ??? and i am like NO? seriously…did that happen?? We got married to massive attack teardrop and walked out as Mr and Mrs Powell to prince lets go crazy! it sumed up the day. it was perfect.
Advice for other couples…
Chill out enjoy the planning…it will be over and you ‘ want to do it again! Do things that you like/love that are important to you. Have a theme. Everyone loved our theme…!
